KiddoLogger Privacy Policy

Summary (plain English) Your children's personal information stays on your device and in your own private iCloud account. We never sell data, never use it for advertising, and analytics tools only receive anonymized interaction events — no names, birthdates, quotes, or any other personal details about your children.

1. About This Policy

This privacy policy explains how KiddoLogger ("the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the KiddoLogger iOS application developed by Akshay Bharath. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.

KiddoLogger is designed for parents and caregivers to log activities, events, and quotes for children in their care. Because the app handles information about children, we follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable privacy laws.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you enter directly

Child profiles — name and date of birth
Activities — type, time, optional notes (e.g. feeding, diaper, sleep)
Events — title, date/time, optional location or notes
Quotes — text, speaker attribution, timestamp

All of this data is entered voluntarily by you and belongs to you. It is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and optionally synced through your personal, private iCloud account via CloudKit (see Section 3).

2.2 Automatically collected device information

When you use the app, our analytics providers (see Section 4) may automatically collect:

Device model and iOS version
App version
Session duration and screen views
Feature interaction events (e.g. "activity added", "sync triggered")

This information is collected in anonymized form and never includes any information about your children. See Section 4 for details and how to opt out.

3. How Your Data Is Stored

3.1 On-device storage

All data you enter is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Data remains on your device unless you enable iCloud sync.

3.2 iCloud sync (optional)

If you are signed into iCloud and have granted permission, KiddoLogger syncs your data through Apple's CloudKit service to your private iCloud database. This means:

Only you can access the data — not us, not Apple (beyond what Apple's standard iCloud terms allow)
The data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple's infrastructure
You control the data through your Apple ID account settings

You can disable iCloud sync at any time via Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud on your iOS device. iCloud sync is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Analytics and Third-Party Services

Key guarantee Our analytics sanitization layer actively blocks any attempt to send child personal information (names, birthdates, quotes, activity descriptions, or any free-text content) to analytics providers. Only anonymized interaction events reach third parties.

4.1 Mixpanel

KiddoLogger uses Mixpanel to understand how features are used so we can improve the app. Mixpanel receives:

Anonymized event names (e.g. "activity_added", "sync_triggered")
Device model and iOS version
App version
A randomly generated device identifier (not linked to your Apple ID or any personal data)

Mixpanel does not receive child names, birthdates, activity notes, quotes, or any other personal information. You can opt out of analytics at any time in the app's Settings → Privacy → Disable Analytics.

4.2 Firebase / Google Analytics

KiddoLogger includes the Firebase SDK (GoogleAppMeasurement), which automatically collects basic session and screen-view data. Google's Privacy Policy applies to this data. No child personal information is passed to Firebase.

4.3 Analytics opt-out

You can disable all analytics collection at any time by going to Settings → Privacy → Disable Analytics within the app. When disabled, no interaction data is sent to Mixpanel or Firebase for the duration your preference is active.

5. COPPA Compliance

KiddoLogger is a tool for parents and guardians — it is not directed at children and children are not expected to use the app themselves. The app records information about children (entered by parents), but this information:

Is stored only on your device and in your private iCloud account
Is never transmitted to our servers or any third party in identifiable form
Is never used for behavioral advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose
Is never shared with other users or made publicly accessible

We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or interact with our analytics systems. If you believe a child has provided information through channels other than described here, contact us at the address in Section 9 and we will promptly address it.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as the app is installed on your device (and in iCloud if sync is enabled). You have full control over deletion:

Delete individual records — swipe to delete activities, events, or quotes directly in the app.
Delete all data — go to Settings → Privacy → Delete All Data to permanently remove all children and their associated records from the app and iCloud.
Uninstall — uninstalling the app removes local data. To remove iCloud data, use Delete All Data before uninstalling, or manage via iCloud.com.

Anonymized analytics data that has already been sent to Mixpanel or Firebase cannot be retroactively deleted because it is not linked to your identity. Future collection can be stopped at any time using the opt-out toggle described in Section 4.3.

7. Your Rights

Because your data is stored entirely within your own device and iCloud account, you already have direct access to, and control over, all personal data the app holds. You may:

Access — view all data by browsing the app
Correct — edit any record at any time within the app
Delete — delete individual records or all data as described in Section 6
Withdraw consent — disable analytics via Settings → Privacy → Disable Analytics; disable iCloud sync via iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud
Data portability — contact us if you need an export of your data in a portable format

7.1 California residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete personal information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. For CCPA requests, contact us at the address in Section 9.

7.2 EEA / UK residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because we act as a data processor on your behalf (storing your data in your own iCloud account), most requests can be fulfilled directly within the app. For other GDPR requests, contact us at the address in Section 9.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information:

On-device data is protected by iOS device encryption (Face ID / Touch ID)
iCloud data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by Apple
Analytics data is anonymized before transmission; a server-side sanitization layer rejects any event containing known PII keys
No passwords or financial information are collected or stored by KiddoLogger

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
